More on getting to us

To help you plan your journey, we’ve put together some information on traveling from the UK to Lithuania and then on to Kaunas.

Flying to Lithuania from London

There are several convenient flight options from London to Lithuania. When searching for flights, consider these three main destinations:

Vilnius: The capital city of Lithuania, Vilnius is well-connected with direct flights from London. It’s a beautiful city with a rich history and worth a visit if you have the time.

Kaunas: Flying directly to Kaunas is the most convenient option as it’s the city where our wedding will be held. Direct flights might be less frequent than to Vilnius, but it saves you an additional travel leg once in Lithuania.

Riga, Latvia: While Riga is in a different country (Latvia), it’s relatively close to Lithuania and offers another option for your journey. Flights to Riga are often plentiful and can be a cost-effective choice.

Getting to Kaunas

Depending on where you land, here’s how you can reach Kaunas:

From Vilnius to Kaunas:

By Train: The train journey from Vilnius to Kaunas is scenic and comfortable, taking about 1.5 hours. Trains run frequently throughout the day.
By Bus: Buses are also available and take approximately 1.5 to 2 hours. They can be a cheaper alternative to trains.
Car Rental: Renting a car is a flexible option and the drive takes about 1.5 hours via the A1 highway.
From Kaunas Airport:

If you fly directly into Kaunas, the city center is just a short taxi or bus ride away. The airport is well-serviced with public transport and taxis.

From Riga, Latvia to Kaunas:

By Bus: Direct buses from Riga to Kaunas are available and the journey takes about 4 hours. This is the most straightforward option.
By Train: There’s no direct train from Riga to Kaunas. You would need to take a train to Vilnius and then change to a Kaunas-bound train.
Car Rental: Driving from Riga to Kaunas is another option. The journey by car is about 3.5 hours via the A10/E67 road.

Accommodation

After the celebration, we have arranged an overnight stay for all attendees at the Vila, but please let us know if you will instead be making your own arrangements. There are plenty of nearby AirBnb’s or hotels if you prefer.

External Accommodation

For those wanting to arrange their own accommodation, we recommend using Booking.com or Airbnb, with Booking.com being our preferred option for capturing better deals. A note of caution: it might be best to avoid booking too far in advance. Many places don’t publish their availability so early. Ideally, start your search in January at the earliest.
